The Mayor of Luton, Councillor Javed Hussain, praised the vital work of Street Fathers Luton, describing the organisation as an "important lifeline" for many residents and calling for more volunteers to support its growing community outreach efforts.

Speaking at the first Youth Fest community event hosted by Street Fathers Luton, Councillor Hussain highlighted the organisation's dedication to supporting vulnerable individuals, offering them guidance, mentorship, and a trusted listening ear.

"The work of Street Fathers is incredible," said Councillor Hussain. "Their outreach and support provide a lifeline to so many members of our community. I have seen their work firsthand, and the difference they make is remarkable."

The Mayor emphasised the importance of volunteering in building stronger, more connected communities, while acknowledging the extraordinary commitment of the organisation's current volunteers.

"Volunteering is at the heart of our communities. Our communities are stronger when we look out for one another. Street Fathers and Street Mothers are helping to create safer, more caring neighbourhoods, but they need more support. I hope today's event inspires new volunteers to come forward and join this important cause."

Councillor Hussain also spoke passionately about his pride in Luton and the positive stories that often go unrecognised.

"I have lived in Luton for 47 years, and I am incredibly proud to serve as its Mayor. Too often, good news doesn't make the headlines, but Luton is full of wonderful people who care for each other and make this town a place to call home. Street Fathers are a perfect example of the very best of our community."

The event brought together local residents, families, community groups, and partner organisations for an afternoon of entertainment, activities, food, and opportunities to learn more about community services available across Luton.

Representatives from Street Fathers and Street Mothers used the occasion to highlight the urgent need for additional volunteers, particularly male volunteers, to support their ongoing patrols, mentoring programmes, and family support initiatives.

Street Fathers Luton thanked attendees, volunteers, local organisations, and sponsors for their continued support.

"Our goal is to create safer streets, reconnect families, and ensure that every young person feels supported and valued," a spokesperson for Street Fathers Luton said. "Together, we can make a real and lasting difference."
